Sports Betting Week:Yankees, Orioles Meet in AL East Showdown

The New York Yankees will be looking to bolster their solid 15/2 odds to win the AL Pennant at sportsbooks monitored by when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night in the first game of a critical three-game series.

The Yankees open the week atop the AL East standings, four games ahead of the Orioles, after taking two of three from the struggling Seattle Mariners over the weekend. New York's 2-1 win over the Mariners on Sunday improved them to 9-4 in their last 13 games, while their recent 6-4 mark gives them the only winning record among AL East squads over the past 10 games.

Baltimore rides a small two-game win streak into Tuesday's Orioles vs. Yankees betting matchup at Yankee Stadium, marking the first time the club has strung together consecutive victories since late June.

Indeed, it has been a difficult three-week stretch for the Orioles, who are a dismal 4-12 in their last 16 games, but they have been spared a severe tumble in the AL East standings due to similar records of futility posted by the rival Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays.

However, Baltimore's recent stretch of mediocrity has stalled their odds to win the AL Pennant at the sportsbooks, which remain at 14/1, while their odds to win the World Series continue to lag at 28/1.

The Yankees and Orioles have seen plenty of each other this season, with the clubs posting five wins each in 10 previous contests. New York holds a slight edge as hosts, topping the Orioles in five of their last eight meetings in the Bronx.

Over in the UFC, the highly anticipated rematch between TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao is set to go on Saturday night with Dillashaw pegged as a heavy -220 betting favorite to defend his UFC Bantamweight crown.

The UFC on Fox 16 main event marks the third attempt to bring the two fighters back together in the Octagon following the postponement of two previously scheduled bouts.

Dillashaw claimed the title from Barao in thrilling fashion, earning a fifth-round TKO victory at UFC 173 as a heavy +550 underdog.

Barao is pegged as the underdog this time around. The 28-year-old Brazilian, who went undefeated in an incredible 33 straight fights (32 wins, 1 no-contest) prior to his loss to Dillashaw, will look to reclaim the UFC Bantamweight title sporting +175 odds at the online sportsbooks.
